Northwest Sands Auto Trail, Inc.

Our Mission

Northwest Sands Auto Trail, Inc, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to interpreting the beauty of the Northwest Sands Ecological Landscape in Wisconsin. Our "auto trail" traverses over 200 miles, as close as possible following a route that dates back centuries, offering a unique perspective on the region's geology, ecology, history, and culture. With 57 stops along the main trail, 12 local museums nearby, and 8 defined 'spurs', our journey delves deep into the heart of this captivating landscape.

Through our carefully curated trail, we aim to unlock the stories of the past, the wonders of nature, and the essence of the local community. Join us on this transformative adventure that promises to unveil the hidden gems of the Northwest Sands like never before.

Organizational Documents

  • NWSAT was formed on May 5, 2025, when we held our first board meeting. At that meeting we adopted bylaws. View our bylaws here.
     
  • NWSAT, Inc., was registered as a nonstock corporation with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions on May 20, 2025. View our registration here. As a Wisconsin nonstock corporation NWSAT, Inc., operates under Chapter 181 of Wisconsin Statutes.
     
  • ​NWSAT filed for approval of IRS 501(c)(3) status on June 5, 2025.
